Jay Street, 1950's

Jay Street, 1950's

This Downtown Brooklyn Jay street model was built out of paper and illustration board as a part of the exhibition "The Klitgord Mosaics: Celebrating Our History, Saving Our Legacy". The exhibition took place at the New York City College of Technology in October, 2015 and celebrated Otto Klitgord, the first CUNY NYCCT President, as well as the mosaics/public art commissioned by the school. The mosaic was created in 1962 by Nathaniel Choate and Joseph von Tury for the facade of the Klitgord Center, and preserved by the colleges current president when the building was torn down in 2013.

The paper model was based on two photographs the Brooklyn Historical Society released to us to replicate a block on Jay street from before CUNY New York City College of Technology expanded in the 1960's.

The model is 24"x16"x8" (w x d x h)
